LG Arena out by this weekend

It was a great opportunity for us to be able to take part in the launch of the LG Arena KM900 blogger event last night in London. We know from some of your messages that there’s been quite alot of interest in the phone since it was first announced during the Mobile World Congress (MWC), we’re happy to tell you all that the Arena will officially be available by the end of this weekend.

We were told at the event by LG Sales and Marketing Director, John Barton that the Arena will be arriving the UK mobile networks, Orange and T-Mobile, not surprisingly Phones4u and the Carphone Warhouse will also be involved in retailing.

“Vodafone is likely to stock the handset,” added John during the presentation.

Most of you will have seen the Arena in silver metallic casing and this has been confirmed to be the Orange unit. However, we have learnt that the T-Mobile version will sport a titanium black exterior.

Tariff deals for the Arena currently available for pre-order (via the Carphone) are priced at £35 per month on a contract length of 18 months.

We’ll keep everyone updated with photos and reviews of the LG Arena as we take a closer look at the demo unit we received last night.

Sony Ericsson’s iPhone killer Idou announced

Sony Ericsson previewed their latest iPhone killer, scheduled to appear in summer 2009, during the company’s press conference at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The full touchscreen phone called Idou (Sony Ericsson does seem to have plans to change this code name to a more commercial friendly name in the future!) features a 3.5-inch touchscreen and a massive 12.1-megapixel camera, all running on a Symbian OS, more details to be revealed very soon!
The bar for the digital camera feature on mobile phones has been raised today with introduction of Sony Ericsson’s Idou. This iPhone Killer will have 12.1-megapixel camera with Xenon flash. The main display is 3.5inch with 640×320 resolution running Symbian S60 OS. Launch date is most likely sometime in the second half of 2009. Stay tuned for more news.

TOSHIBA'S ULTRA THIN IPHONE KILLER TG01 TOUCH SCREEN PHONE

Looks like Toshiba also wants to be apart of the touchscreen phone gang. Completely out of the blue? Well, no. It appears Toshiba has been working on it and to reveal their latest TG01 ahead of the upcoming Mobile World Congress also seems like a plan so that everyone will have had it stuck in their heads and thinking about it even before seeing all the new tech other brands will have to offer at the world congress.

An obvious iPhone killer? That too. Toshiba has managed to pack a 4.1″ QVGA screen, microSD support, 1Ghz processor, aGPS, WiFi, HSDPA, and other goodies like DiVX and Flash support into a 9.9mm thick shell. Much of which Apple hasn’t managed to do. I’m sure we’ll hear more details and specs on the TG01 very soon.

The excellent link from T3 below also compares the latest TG01 with the benchmark iPhone and also Palm Pre, quite interesting, check it out if you have some spare time!
